U.S. Governors Spar Over the Economy

Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell and Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley took part in Politico’s second annual State Solutions Conference in Washington. Both men discussed a wide range of topics and issues including the controversial abortion legislation in the Commonwealth and Maryland’s passage of the same sex marriage bill.

The bill, approved Thursday is now headed to Governor’s desk for his signature. O’Malley says he plans to sign it into law next week

O'Malley, serving his second term as Maryland's governor, is chairman of the Democratic Governors Association. In his first term as Virginia's governor, Bob McDonnell chairs the Republican Governors Association.
